My final blog reflection

My best post was the Analysis post. Click here to view my best blog post. I think this is my best post because it follows all requirements on the rubric. It gives a quote that supports the main analysis subject which is the setting in the beginning. I cited it in the right format and gave a explanation for the quote. I mentioned my inferences for the book and many people said my post was very good and gave them a reason to read it.

My goals for next trimester are much higher than they were for this trimester. I started off on a not so good foot but then I realized I need to try harder. I want to read at least 4-5 more books in second trimester. I don't choose to read if its offered but I want to start reading more and make my comprehension and reading level higher. Maybe I'll start to like reading? I write all the time at home and I enjoy it. It gets all my frustrations and difficulties behind me. I would like to write more often and maybe even start on my personal narrative. I think it should be interesting because I have alot of good stories to share and be shared with others.

Safe Haven: Tone and Mood

The mood of my book Safe Haven is heart warming. Safe Haven is a very romantic love story and most readers feel touched and bubbly. The main characters Alex and Katie are falling in love in a very strange way. Alex only wants to make sure Katie is safe and the kids are always okay. Alex is a very sweet, strong, and a loving guy that fell for Katie, but wants the same in return. The couple is always finding new ways to make each other fall even deeper into love than before.

The intended tone for this book is sweet sarcasm. The author, Nicholas Sparks, was intending to make the actions silly and sarcastic but have a sweet meaning or thought behind it. He wants the readers to see that they can still be sarcastic and play around. But at the same time can love each other and still have a sweet side to it.

Reading Skills Re-do

Reading Skills Re-do

I never did this post but here's my "re-do".

I predict that Katie will fall deeply in love with Alex. She will never understand the problems from the war. I predict that Alex will fall in loe with Katies son and then one day they will be happily married. A Text-to-world connection is that many people come home from war and end up being tramatized by the gun shots, the things the see, and the way they killed someone. I cant wait to finish the book so I will know which is better. Book or Movie? You tell me? Which do you think is better?

Analysis

In Safe Haven, the beginning setting is in a restaurant. I know this because Nicholas Sparks says, "After retrieving a pitcher of sweet tea, she refilled their glasses before returning to the waitress station" (Sparks 1). This shows me that it's in a restaurant because it says "waitress station". Most restaurants have a waitress station.  I can infer that this book is going to be about a true love between two people because during the book they talk about how Jo needs to get Katie a guy and then thy meet Josh. I like love stories. And that's why I pick this book!

Book Recomendation(s)

Over the summer I read not only Room by: Emma Doungue but The Sisterhood of the Travleing Pants series by: Ann Brashares. The books are a 4.5 out of 5 stars because at times they get very dumbed downed words but the rest of the book is amazing! The story line is about 5 girls that have been friends for all their life. They live right next door to eachother. the girl go shopping and find jeans. Something is special about these jeans. The girls go on adventures thoughout the summer... All in different places. Causing them to be apart, but somthing pulls them back togeather! You would have to read in order to find out. I totally recommend this to girls or guys that have a thing for love, faith, and or hope inspiring books. Hope you enjoy:)

Reading Skills

I am on chapter 4 and I predict that Katie and Josh will end up together in the end. This book is very understanding and dramatic book, I like it a lot! This book reminds me of when I hurt myself and the guy I liked was there and he said he didn't know what to do. Just like how Josh got hurt and Katie didn't know what to do. I wonder if Jo will succeed in getting the two together? Will this book relate to the movie at all? Let's read on!

Characters in Safe Haven

One of the Characters books in my book Safe Haven is named Katie. She is a very bright young lady. Katie is a restaurant hostess part-time at the age of nine-teen. When people ask her to do things for her, she does it with no argument. Like when she was just making a pot of sweet tea, Elieen asked her "Katie- can you take another table?". Katie replied "Sure!" with no problem at all (Sparks 2). Katie helps develop the plot and setting because she helps us see her background and where this all is going to go in the future.

The Room

The characters in The Room were very complex. The mother in my book has always gone through rough times. She was abducted at 19 years old and put in a room. Went through troubles with the abductor and ended up with a child. This young woman has a 5 year old child and needs to get out. Putting up fights, putting her life at risk, and putting her child at risk. She finds ways to get to other people and pushes the plot even futher.

This article gives a summary of this book because this book is too good to tell any details.
